Patrick Stansell founded Ampersand Publishing Company in 1993 with $300.00 and big dreams. The first, black-and-white issue of Military Miniatures in Review was handed out for free at the IPMS nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. The response was overwhelmingly positive—within two months, the magazine had over 700 subscribers.
Today, Ampersand has grown into America's foremost publishing company exclusively devoted to military vehicles. Our titles are carried by hobby shops all over the world. In addition to Military Miniatures in Review, we publish Allied-Axis, a quarterly magazine of short-subject reference material; the Visual History Series, single-subject reference books; and The Modeler's Guides, comprehensive step-by-step guides to the most popular subjects for armor modelers. And our growth continues!
Patrick Stansell, Owner
After spending many years as an international man of mystery, Pat decided to settle down in Delray Beach to raise rare albino chinchillas and build armor models. After finding three hundred dollars in a bottle on the beach, Pat started Ampersand Publishing Company, Inc. Pat divides his time between Tel Aviv, Instanbul, Karachi and Delray Beach. When not modeling, Pat's other hobbies included weight lifting, weapons training, mountain climbing, Triathlons, free-diving and an extreme form of sky diving where one knits one's own parachute after leaving the aircraft.
Jeff Kleinhenz, Advertising Sales
Jeff is a long-time armor and figure modeler. He originally got involved with Ampersand by helping out with modeling projects and research in 2003. This eventually evolved into a full-time position that includes heavy involvement in both an administrative and editorial capacity. It sure beats working for a living!
Sarah Wood, Copy Editor
Sarah can't tell a Sherman from a Sturmgeschütz, but she can spot a misplaced modifier from a mile away. When she's not working, she divides her time between getting into freak accidents and contracting infectious diseases. Really.
