M4A4 DV, part 1

This is a fairly simple conversion using the Tasca M4A4 and the direct vision hoods from the Tasca M4A2. Here, the old hoods have been cut away and the new ones removed from the M4A2.

Styrene "sleepers" are installed inside the hull to support the new hoods.

The gaps have been filled with Apoxy-Sculpt and sanded smooth. A lot of work is necessary to reshape the welded M4A2 hoods into the cast parts seen on the M4A2. This means careful filling of the inner corners as well as sanding the edges of the styrene part to create a more rounded look.

Like the M4A3 dry, I've removed the antenna pot and ventilators covers for later detailing.

Test priming is taking place here and additional shaping and sanding will be necessary to correct a few errors. The inner vision blocks are now in place and small splash guards have been added per my references. A strip of styrene is being worked in to the top of the turret race to represent a detail seen on the real tank.
